REMOND WALL LAMP
A wooden lace applique
I wanted with this wall lamp to highlight a disc of “wooden lace”. This unique effect, the result of turning and then very delicate sanding, gives transparency to the oak.
The wall lamp bears the name of François Rémond (1747 -1812). He was a French master engraver and gilder who achieved great fame in his time, and whose work is still highly regarded. He made candelabra, sconces and bronze ornaments for fine furniture for the elite of the time.
DEVELOPMENT
WOOD LACE
This unique effect, the result of turning and then very delicate sanding, gives transparency to the oak. This material at first sight fragile turns out to be on the contrary of a certain rigidity and solidity.
The wall lamp is made of two materials that go together wonderfully well : sandblasted oak and brass. Brass adds a precious side to the wood used in a raw way.
The brass is treated with a finish called “champagne” . That is to say that it is finely brushed then a varnish passed in the oven completes its finish.
A LIGHTING EFFECT
UNIQUE
The chosen light source is an LED bulb so as not to release heat and to obtain low power consumption. It allows homogeneous lighting thanks to a 360° diffusion.
A long brass arm is used to pass the electrical cables. The connections are made behind the rosette, so no wires are visible.
The wall fixing is carried out by 2 screws which secure the wall lamp to the wall.
The sockets are generally unsightly so I inserted these into a brass part in order to obtain a harmonious whole.
