THE FOLIOT SCREEN

The combination of light and transparency

By creating this screen to delimit a space, I chose to highlight the cardboard lace. I called this creation “the Foliot screen” in reference to Nicolas-Quinibert Foliot from an important dynasty of 18th century carpenters . He distinguished himself for more than forty years in the service of the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne.

A CREATION
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

It is formed by a wooden frame which encases a panel of cardboard lace.

This archetypal material of consumption is treated here in a totally different way from our habits of use and surprises.

These are multiple small pieces of cardboard cut out, formed and then glued to each other that create this lace effect. This work of patience makes it possible to create a transparency effect in the panel by using the cells horizontally.

Cardboard is no longer just a simple container but an element of a creation which is enriched by the application of gilding on the edge.

This artistic choice to mix two materials that everything opposes adds an original touch to this unique piece of craftsmanship.

LIGHTING
INNOVATIVE

The led lighting takes place in a flower formed from a fabric of copper wires. This very fine, flexible material is surprising. It allows you to slightly dim the light so as not to be too dazzled.

The lighting arms are made of brass. They take up the shape of the wooden structure and thus underline its design .

The asymmetry of the lighting branches makes it possible to distribute the light better.
